20th Anniversary and 250th Anniversary

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country, I am filled with gratitude for the community and country in which I live. For the past twelve years I have had the privilege to work for Wellfield Botanic Gardens. It has given me the opportunity to be apart of something bigger than myself. I have witnessed how dreams do come true.

Over 20 years ago, the Elkhart Rotary Club wanted to do a service project for their 100th anniversary. The members of the club had a dream to build a botanical gardens on the city’s well field. Many thought that project would never take shape. But just like our forefathers of our country, they pursued their vision and Wellfield Botanic Gardens is now thriving and continues to grow and gain national recognition. 

What makes Wellfield and our country such a blessing? I believe it’s the people. If you listen to the news you may think the world is falling apart. But I don’t believe that. I believe there is much more good in our country and in our community then what people see on tv or social media. I have the honor to work in an environment that is surrounded by generosity, kindness, and dedication. The people that work, volunteer, and support Wellfield are perfect examples of selfless dedication. The Gardens were built and are sustained by our community. A community that cares, a community that loves, and appreciates what nature has to offer. 

Wellfield is a treasure and a true gift to all who visit. If you are looking for a place to find peace and goodness, I encourage you to visit and spend time in the Gardens. Meet the people that volunteer and work here. These are the people that make our country and our community a special place to live. For them, I am extremely grateful and blessed to live in Elkhart, IN, USA.
